The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization & Education recognized Jennifer Diaz at the Annual Convention for promoting board certification in international law.
The award recognizes excellence and creativity by a Florida Bar board certified lawyer in advancing the public’s knowledge of, and reputation for, legal board certification.
Diaz is a South Florida international trade law attorney specializing in import and export transactions, compliance with U.S. federal government agencies laws and regulations, and enforcement mitigation.
Diaz ensured The Florida Bar International Law Section’s International Deskbook, for which she wrote numerous chapters, became a key resource and study guide for the international law board certification exam.
Under her leadership, she was instrumental in overhauling and updating the area exam specifications, revising the Exam Study Guide and with the certification committee’s assistance updated the entire exam, including a rewrite of almost 200 multiple choice questions to ensure they met the new guidelines of The Florida Bar and were simultaneously included within both the exam specifications and study guide, according to the BLSE.
“She made sure all international law board certified members were prominently featured on a weekly basis in the ILS Gazette and Florida Bar social media feeds,” Chief Justice Charles Canady said when presenting the award. “No one has lobbied harder and championed more to make the International Law Exam current, accessible, and to ensure test takers have the best available resources available to study for the exam.”
Diaz is an advocate of board certification as a method of differentiating oneself and marketing their expertise while encouraging the promotion of board certification as an attainable goal.
